Four bands competed:

  -The Joe Gaspar Band
Big Chill

Entries were judged in five categories – blues content, vocal talent, instrumental talent, originality and stage presence – using the scoring criteria provided by the Blues Foundation.

Cover charges and raffle fundraising provide support for travel and accommodation expenses for the winning OBS representatives. Nearly $4,000 has been raised to date and a final fundraising event is being planned for later this fall.

Big Chill used to be our favourite band to go out and see. we used to dance all night and really enjoyed your niche market on the jump blues and yard birds numbers. you guys were the best and your original stuff is great too.
my friend was the Soundman at Tucson's and he taped your set through the desk, I listen to East side blues all the time and you didn't put THAT SONG on the album
